I was mortified Ashanti was cast and will sing one of my favorite musical theatre songs…Home. What is going on? She’s a fine R & B artist with a few hits under her belt, but in no way is she known for her voice. Casting that I was excited to about was Lachanze as Glinda! Oh what fun!
Orlando Jones as The Wiz? Really? I just find it hard to believe it was that hard to find some good unknown talent in that role. I guess I’m being hard, but I know so many African American actors that fight for roles and it’s sucks that these “stars” besides Lachanze get cast. I probably going to see it, but I hope “Home” isn’t painful.

Yes I’m hating. She will have to prove it to me. Not to herself, but to me. Theatre is about stage presence, stamina and acting chops and rarely do singers from the R & B world do well in this genre of entertainment.
I will give you credit. Just this morning on NY1 I saw her singing Home I have to say, I will now buy a ticket.
I just hope she knocks it out of the park! I just don’t want her to “get by”, but I want her to kill it!! This particular show has a special place in my heart and I want to see it soar!
